Four Ways to Kill Stress at Work
August 8th, 2008 | Posted in General Stuff, The Day Job.There are many things in our daily lives that cause us stress. Perhaps it’s the credit card debt, the mortgage payment just around the corner or maybe it’s the oil pan in your car that needs to be replaced. When these things add up it can be very difficult to just get through a normal day, here are some tips to ease your stress…
Take a Walk
Taking yourself out of a stressful situation and clearing your mind can really help. If you are trying to solve an ongoing problem, you usually will end up finding the solution the minute you stop thinking about it. A stroll around the block can let you forget for a moment of your problems by enjoying the scenery.
The Power Nap
If you work from home or have the comfort of taking a short nap at the office can help take the load off. Sleep only for 30 minutes at a maximum to feel refreshed and ready to get back to work. But be careful not to oversleep or this little nap could reverse its effectiveness.
Turn on The Tunes
Try listening to music to ease your mood. Pick out songs that calm you down and get you back into a productive mindset.
Call the Doctor
Perhaps your stress has lead to a depression. If it lasts longer than a couple of weeks, you should consider talking to your doctor. Many people have depression, it doesn’t make you any less of a person to be on anti-depressants.
So before you lose your head and go postal while working, try the above tips to calm down and get back to work. Productivity requires the right mindset to be effective. If you aren’t in your game, then your job performance will fail. Relieve as much stress as you can.
